Republic of China – Order of the Striped Tiger, 6th Class Officer’s Badge
Historical Background:
The Order of the Striped Tiger (虎章勳章) was established in 1912 by the Republic of China, shortly after the fall of the Qing Dynasty. It was awarded to military personnel and foreign allies for outstanding military service or contributions to national defense.
This particular decoration—the 6th Class—was intended for officers of intermediate rank, including foreign military advisers and attachés, particularly during the tumultuous Warlord Era, the Northern Expedition, and the Sino-Japanese conflicts.
The order features a striking striped tiger, an ancient symbol of strength, power, and military prowess in Chinese tradition, prominently placed in the center of an enameled radiating starburst.
